  The Miniature Castle

Wealth. Fame. Power. When Bill Gates had everything the world had to offer, he didn’t have a worry in the world. Until… he was kidnapped by his greedy family members and taken deep into the forest. “Tell us where you hid your treasure is!” Shouted his father. “I’ll never tell you!” Bill Gates shouted back. As hours past Bill’s family got angrier and angrier. Until, they couldn’t take it anymore. Bill’s father walked up to the tied up Bill. Then proceed to hit Bill over and over again.

As it went on Bill managed to loosen the ropes that tied his hands to the chair he was tied to. Then suddenly… He ! Then ran and ran and didn’t stop running until his body started to give up on him. He fell to the ground, his life slowly fading away. 

Days later, the police found his body deep within the forest. As they searched around, one of the police officers found a letter inside of his left pocket. It read “You want my treasure? Well you are going to have to find it deep within the forest. Where you will find a bizarrely small castle. There, and only there will you find my treasure”. It was all over the news. Although Bill had given many clues to where he left his treasure. No one managed to find it. 

But I thought otherwise. I believed that i could find it if I listened closely to the clues, and put it all together to find out where his treasure was. Finally...after days of research I had finally found out where he hid his treasure. Although it was pretty easy since he said “Where you will find a bizarrely small castle. There, and only there will you find my treasure”. So it was pretty easy. 

Now it’s time to get ready for the adventure beyond! To be continued...

Part 2:

With everything ready. I am ready and set to find the treasures of Bill Gates! But where is this miniature castle? A mini golf course? No no, of course not. Maybe a...hmm..In a forest? Hah, funny joke, of course not. But maybe...It could be deep in the forest? Yeah, yeah maybe it is! Alright lets check there. As I approach the forest getting closer by the minute, I wonder. "If I ever find the money, what will I spend it on? Definitely a glue stick. But what will I do with the rest? I'll just burn the rest and make a campfire. Yeah! Great idea".

Anyways, lets find this treasure! Wait...I think I left the oven on? No, no I didn't. Hopefully nothing burns. Now its time to find this treasure! I walk through the forest, but I've found NOTHING!!! Wait...I see something in the distance. What is that? Woah that's a!...

Surf to Turf

 Surf to Turf

Last Tuesday we did Surf to Turf. What is Surf to Turf? Surf to Turf is an event were we run from Kaiapoi, all the way back to Belfast. Once we're back at Belfast, we do some mini events like commando crawl, 50 sit-ups, and 1 minute plank. After all of that we pull a firetruck. Before we did the event on Tuesday, we would do practices every Tuesday and Thursday. We would do mostly running (Because the event was running) and we did some burpees, push-ups etc. When we started the run, I stayed with two of my friends (Josh and Joshua). I managed to keep up with Josh for some of the run, until we lost sight of Joshua. Then I started to get tired so I fell behind of Josh, and stayed with Joshua instead. We both ran together for most of the run until we decided to run with Bill, and Lucas. We all ran together for some of the run until Bill and Joshua got ahead of me and I stayed with Lucas. Then Joshua got left behind by Bill so I ran with him leaving Lucas behind. We ran for a while until we got back to Belfast, then we did all of the activities. First was 1 minute plank, then commando crawl, then 50 sit-ups etc. 

After finishing we got juicies, and a water bottle. After everyone finished, everyone went down the driveway where the firetruck was. There were two ropes, one for the year 8 boys and year 7 girls, and one for the year 8 girls and year 7 boys. When the firetruck alarm started, we started pulling. It didn't feel that hard since there were a lot of us pulling the truck. After awhile of pulling we had to go over a speed bump and I think the truck got stuck. But we managed to pull it hard enough that it got out. After pulling the firetruck all the way up the driveway we took a photo in front of the firetruck. After that we headed back to the finishing line area, and we got hot dogs and some drinks. A few days later we got our rewards for competing in Surf to Turf. We got a Lone Star key chain, a $4.50 McDonalds gift card, and a free one slice of pizza gift card. After finishing Surf to Turf, we headed back to class and had to wait until the bell rang for us to go home.

Steps To Solving A Math Problem

Kia ora! In math we have been tasked with making a google slide, powtoon etc. In the presentation we have to explain the four steps to simplify a math problem: See, plan, do, and check. We also had to explain some of the strategies that are included in the four steps. For example: Guess and check, work backwards, make a drawing or diagram, and make an organised list. Order Of Operations/BEDMAS

 

Kia Ora! In this slideshow I teach you how to use the order of operations/bedmas. Order of operations/bedmas is an order of operations that can be very helpful in algebra. The order of operations include: brackets which are these: ( ), exponents which are numbers with a tiny number on the top right of the number, division, multiplication, addition, and subtraction. Pobble 365 Writing Activity

 

Kia ora! In this blogpost I had to draw a tree with a portal inside, and then describe what I can see when I enter the portal. It is like a pobble 365 story. For example, what I did was I said that I found an ancient castle inside of the portal. You might need to zoom in to read the writing. I hope you like it!

Amazing! animal Control

   

  Our school syndicate had a visit from a girl named Kim from animal control to teach us about how to keep safe around dogs, and some rules to keep your dog safe and happy. The first rule is that you should install a microchip into your dog or give it a collar, just incase your dog goes wandering around. Another rule to keep your dog refreshed and happy is to give it healthy and nutritious food, clean water, warm shelter so the dog can keep warm on rainy or snowy days. Make sure to take your dog on walks atleast once a day, and make sure to give your dog lots of love and company because dogs don't last forever, so you have to make time to spend with your dog. Another rule is to leave a dog on its on if there owner isn't with them, because sometimes when a dog is asleep, it can frighten the dog and they might scratch or bite you. 

One other rule is when you see a dog with their owner and you want to pet the dog. Stand a few metres away from the dog and its owner because if you get too close, the dog might think you are a threat and attack you. Then you ask the dog owner if you can pet the dog. If they say yes, then proceed slowly over to the dog, then make a fist with the hand you are going to pet the dog with. Then slowly move your hand down to rub their chest, not their head, because petting them on the head is showing dominance and the dog will think that you are trying to be the boss and will start to get angry.

Lastly, if you are being growled at by a dog that is not on a leash or doesn't have an owner with them, then here is what to do in that situation. Firstly if use your bag to prevent yourself from getting bitten in any critical places. Then you keep your legs together to prepare for anything the dog might do. Thirdly you slowly walk backwards and yell in a loud deep voice "Go home!" Make sure not to turn your back on the dog or it might use that to its advantidge and run straight towards you. If you feel like the dog is going to attack, try getting up to a fence so it doesn't attack you from behind.

The America's cup is a boat race between different countries to win a golden cup that is worth 100 pounds. In this race unfortunetly, there are only two competiting countries. The Wayfinders Journey For New Land

This week for writing we had to fill out a sheet about a story called the wayfinder. The wayfinder is a story about a boy called Manu that is trying to find new land because his home island is too small. What we had to fill out in the sheet was where was the story set, who was in the story, what the story was about, the obstacles that got in the way of their adventure, etc. The ending to the story is that they find land but the story never says that they arrived to the island. There are many possible ways that the Wayfinder could have ended. Maybe the canoe sunk? Maybe they did get to the island? Who knows? Well, I hope you like this blogpost that I have created.
